What to tell us
The more of this you can give us up front, the closer the first figure will be to the final one.
- The suburb or town the carport is going into.
- How many vehicles it must cover — single, double, or a custom span.
- The roof you want: shade net, galvanised steel with IBR sheeting, or aluminium.
- Roughly how much space you have, and whether the ground is paved, brick or grass.
- Whether the structure attaches to the house or stands free.
- Anything on site that affects access — a narrow driveway, a slope, overhead cables or trees.
What a carport quote covers
- Supply of the frame, roof sheeting or shade cloth and all fixings.
- Installation by the fitting team, including setting and concreting the posts.
- The span, height and roof material the price is based on, stated in writing.
- Colour options for the sheeting or netting.
What a carport costs in KwaZulu-Natal
A single carport starts at R6 500 supplied and installed and a double at R12 500. Shade net starts at R4 500 and aluminium at R12 000. These are indicative 2026 prices — the final figure depends on span, height, roof sheeting and site access, and is confirmed in writing after the site visit. The full price table by carport type and span is on the Carports Durban page.
Do you need council approval?
No, usually not. Under SANS 10400 a carport is generally treated as Minor Building Works, but the requirement is set by your local municipality and by any estate or HOA rules. Confirm with your municipality before construction. We will tell you what we know for your area when we quote.
